Drummond Family Portraits in Brincliffe Edge Woods | Sheffield

What do you think of when you hear the word ‘portrait’? Perhaps you imagine an oil painting or a photo from your grandparents’ wedding where everyone stood in a line, scowling, looking straight into the camera.  But portraits don’t have to be serious and miserable. In fact, they are usually completely opposite; they are a lot of fun!

Nowadays it is acceptable to shoot portraits pretty much anywhere and in any style – the rules for the most part have been thrown out the window. My main goals in portraiture are to shoot in great light and to capture people’s personalities.  A good photographer will achieve both of these. My approach means that no two people’s portraits look-alike because I am trying to capture them and what they want to do, not applying a ready-made formula or style.

Check out this set of photos from a lovely family in Sheffield. They choose to go into the woods for their shoot. This look fit them well because they come from the country and love the outdoors!
