Metcalfe Wedding Photography | Boroughbridge

Couple in love + plenty of cake + laughter + pyrotechnics = a great wedding and this April I had the privilege of photographing Sally and Josh Metcalfe’s wedding in Boroughbridge! The Matt Lollar emergency umbrellas came into good use as the heavens opened at one point, but we still got some lovely photos. The personalised Coke bottles and Metcalfe family ‘pants’ tradition (see if you can spot them in the photos below) were some highlights and the day ended with a spectacular fireworks display. How cool is that?!

Fieldsend Wedding Photography | Sheffield

On the 7th April 2012 I had the pleasure of photographing Debbie and Tom Fieldsend’s wedding at the bandstand in Weston Park and the reception afterwards at the Norfolk Arms. This was one of the friendliest weddings I’ve photographed and as you can see from the photos below I was able to capture lots of candid shots of happy wedding guests! There was a real sense of fun and this continued long into the night at the reception where the guests took full advantage of the photo booth I set up (when they weren’t busy dancing at the awesome ceilidh).
Top Tips for Handsome Grooms

In my last post I gave you my Top Tips for Beautiful Brides. This post will focus on the guys and how to get killer good photos. Assuming there’s great interaction between you and your Mrs (and you’ve booked a photographer who knows how to capture good light (hint, hint) then here are my top tips for Handsome Grooms:
Top Tips for Beautiful Brides

Photography is the art of capturing light, and weddings in particular are all about good light. You can have great light, and a bad subject (like me) but still end up with good photos. Similarly you can have a beautiful subject but bad light and get rubbish photos.
To get great photos, I need great light and good interaction with you, but not all photographers know how to capture light well as a quick google search will prove! Assuming you’ve got a photographer who knows how to capture good light, here are my top tips for beautiful brides:
Basran Wedding Photography | Sheffield
Last October I had the privilege of photographing Beks and Alex Basran’s autumn wedding in Sheffield, South Yorkshire. The day started at Christ Church Fulwood, before moving to a nearby park close to Forge Dam for the group and bride and groom portraits. The reception was held at Cutlers’ Hall in Sheffield City centre and the day ended with an awesome, traditional Indian meal by the guys at Aagrar.
Tom & Emily’s Engagement Shoot | Peak District

I have the privilege of shooting Tom & Emily’s wedding in a couple of months but recently we did an engagement shoot in the Peak District. It was really difficult to choose my favourites from our shoot but I have managed to pick a few for you to see!
It’s All About the Detail!
As a wedding photographer, I meet/photograph tons of soon-to-be brides and grooms every year and the ones whom I enjoy photographing the most are the ones who have put a lot of thought into the detail of their wedding day.
Another Thank You From a Wedding Client…

Last year I had the privilege of shooting Sara & Siegfried Jaeken’s wedding in Genk, Belgium and this week I received a lovely thank you card in the post from them and this is what it said:
“Thank you for taking really beautiful, romantic, in-the-rain pictures on our wedding day. We are so happy with them!
And thank you to your wife and very cute little girl for letting you come all the way to Belgium for this occasion. Thank you for making our wonderful day last!
Lots of Love,
Siegfried & Sara”
Blessing in Disguise!
A few weeks ago I woke up to heavy rain, which is not unusual living in England, in fact it’s fairly typical of British weather. I am told you never get used to it no matter how long you have lived here and so far this is true for me. I was shooting a wedding – great! All my gear was ready to go, including my handy umbrellas that I take to every wedding for the bride and groom. I checked the weather on my iPhone one last time before setting off and the forecast was for heavy rain all day.
Weddings are always a privilege to shoot and last October I had the chance to photograph my friend’s little (actually taller) brother’s wedding. When a bride and groom value the importance of photography to capture the start of their life together, it really makes my job so much easier and Hannah and Nahum did just that. We built in a lot of time for photography during the day so I had ample opportunity to be creative. I really felt they trusted me to get great photos and that made them a lot more fun to photograph! After seeing their pictures this is one of the reflections they wrote:
