Fieldsend Wedding Photography | Sheffield

On the 7th April 2012 I had the pleasure of photographing Debbie and Tom Fieldsend’s wedding at the bandstand in Weston Park and the reception afterwards at the Norfolk Arms. This was one of the friendliest weddings I’ve photographed and as you can see from the photos below I was able to capture lots of candid shots of happy wedding guests! There was a real sense of fun and this continued long into the night at the reception where the guests took full advantage of the photo booth I set up (when they weren’t busy dancing at the awesome ceilidh).

Movember in Sheffield

Sorry I haven’t posted on here in yonks. It isn’t because I have gone out of business or anything like that, in fact, it is the complete opposite! I am so busy shooting, editing & teaching that I struggle to give much time to blogging.

Those of you who follow me on twitter (@mattlollar) will know that for the month of November I decided to grow a moustache to help raise awareness (and cash) for prostate cancer which effects over 37,000 men per year in the UK alone. Before I took part in Movember I would have never known that of those 37,000 men, 10,000 will die from it each year.  252,785 people across Britain registered to take part in ‘Movember and have raised over £15,000,000 in sponsorship for prostate cancer research. For more facts and figures check out the Men’s Health section of the Movember website.

How to Avoid “Newbie Tax”

For a while I had been thinking about buying a new iMac and in the new year I took the plunge and purchased a 21.5-inch iMac with a 3.06GHz Intel Core i3 processor. I know, it sounds cool, right?  The past two years I have done all my editing and design on a 13″ Macbook Pro which has been excellent but it was really starting to slow me down. The Macbook is great and still very very fast and it would be my number one recommendation for an amateur photographer who isn’t editing hundreds of pictures a day, but it just couldn’t meet all of my needs as a full time professional photographer and to be honest no one piece of equipment will.

Owen Jones Design | Plymouth

Not long ago I was at a wedding both as a guest and a photographer, and one of the guys on our table was called Owen Jones. He and I hit it off straight away because he is a graphic designer and whenever you get two creative types together conversation is never hard to come by! Come to find out, he is a freelance graphic designer based in Plymouth. We exchanged details and promised to look at each other’s work and get in touch if ever we needed anything.

Beauty is Unique

Have you ever looked at a photo in a magazine of a beautiful model or celebrity and wished you could look as attractive as them? How do they manage to have perfect skin, vibrant bright eyes, impeccable physique, great jaw structure, designer hair, etc etc? Well your not alone as probably all of us have done this at some point and sometimes these images can have serious impacts on our lives. At the minimum, we will feel second rate and less beautiful/handsome as these people.

Blogging…

Hello folks and welcome to my new blog! This is my first post and I hope you will find it interesting!

As you will have seen from my website I am an American. Originally, I am from Omaha, Nebraska (somewhere in the middle of the US) but was raised in Pensacola, Florida, so I consider myself a “Florida boy”. I am now living in Sheffield, England and have stayed in this lovely, but very rainy country, because of my wife, who is English. I am a full time wedding and portrait photographer.
